Mental Health Awareness Month is this month! Mental Health Awareness Month holds a special place in my life, especially after growing up with mental illness in my family. Learning to hold space for all the emotions and experiences, and learning to listen. Below are 5 tips that I find to be helpful.

5 tips for mental health awareness

  1. Educate yourself on mental health and its importance. This includes learning about common mental health conditions, symptoms, and treatments. This is what led me to study psychology because I wanted to understand.

  2. Practice self-care regularly. This can include activities such as meditation, exercise, and spending time with loved ones. All of these practices can be also mood-changing in a great way. Cooking can also be self-care for many and bring you joy.

  3. Seek support from a mental health professional if needed. This can include therapy, counseling, or medication.

  4. Encourage open and honest communication about mental health with others. This can help reduce stigma and increase understanding. Feel free to reach out if you want to talk. Remember to feel all the feelings and it's Ok.

  5. Advocate for mental health awareness in your community. This can include volunteering, donating to mental health organizations, and spreading awareness through social media and other platforms. Let's take care of each other!

Let me know which tip resonates with you. Feel free to leave a comment.
